December 4, 2017 we successfully completed a challenging project — interpreting during HAZOP session for MOLGroup in Buguruslan, Orenburg Region (Russia). 55 hours of interpreting within 5 days, including 32 hours of simultaneous interpreting. Why was it challenging? It was a customer’s requirement, that there should be only one interpreter involved in this project. As a rule, simultaneous interpreting is carried out by a pair of interpreters who change one another every 15 minutes. In the framework of this project, our interpreter performed simultaneous interpreting without a partner with a short rest every two hours for 5 days, but the quality did not suffer. Our client benifited from sufficient budget savings and we proved that sometimes it is useful to break traditional rules.
